South Africa are still getting into their stride and are likely to improve in this 2nd T20 and they need as much time playing as possible before the real business starts in this tour. New Zealand’s batsman have been lethal when it is required of him and already Martin Guptill is looking to get his 7th half century in a row.
Match Information :
February 19, Hamilton
Starting Time: 1900 Local Time
How the Teams Stand:
It is only the start for this South African squad in this tour and you can easily put that loss in the 1st T20 down to rustiness. South Africa have to exploit New Zealand’s weakness which is the bowling but to do that too best effect they must bowl extremely well and get those early wickets. New Zealand have to continue playing the way they are but everyone knows the extraordinary run they are having will eventually come to an end which will be most likely in this T20 if their batsman fail to hit the mark.
Martin Guptill is becoming a big force in this team and another half century in the 1st T20 is really a danger sign for South Africa. If Guptill can continue this run over this tour South Africa will have their work cut out as the batting for New Zealand is crucial to them winning matches. Gutpill is in the best form of his career with Martin chasing 7 consecutive half centuries. 147 was an under par score for South Africa and none of the South African batsman really got a start to help their team. Batting in New Zealand conditions can be very hard so the Proteas must start adapting and there is no better way than being in the middle for as long as possible.
Team News:
Jacob Oram may make a return in this 2nd T20 after a calf injury ruled him out of the 1st T20.
New Zealand (probable): 1 Rob Nicol, 2 Martin Guptill, 3 Brendon McCullum (capt & wk), 4 Kane Williamson, 5 Colin de Grandhomme/Jacob Oram, 6 James Franklin, 7 Nathan McCullum, 8 Doug Bracewell, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Kyle Mills, 11 Ronnie Hira
The only change that could happen is Tsotsobe being dropped from Wayne Parnell because of Tsotsobe being expensive.
South Africa (probable): 1 Hashim Amla, 2 Richard Levi, 3 Colin Ingram, 4 AB de Villiers (capt & wk), 5 JP Duminy, 6 Justin Ontong, 7 Albie Morkel, 8 Johan Botha, 9 Morne Morkel, 10 Lonwabo Tsotsobe/Wayne Parnell, 11 Rusty Theron.
