Australia 333 & 240 (Hussey 89, Ponting 60, Yadav 4-70) beat India 282 & 169 (Pattinson 4-53, Siddle 3-42) by 122 runs.
By now the Australians had inexorable momentum behind them, and Hilfenhaus pinned Virat Kohli lbw first ball. Bat, pad and ball were all in close proximity, and Kohli lingered at the wicket upon his dismissal. However replays offered precious little evidence of an edge, even if India deigned to employ the DRS that might have saved him.
Aghast at the chaos all around him, Tendulkar had been stretched by Pattinson’s speed, hostility and movement. Siddle relieved his younger club and state team-mate, and first ball gained the wicket Pattinson had so strived for. As dictated by team planners, the ball was full and moving wider, Tendulkar’s square drive was airy, and Hussey’s hands safe. At 6 for 81, evening flights to Sydney were being booked en masse, but Dhoni and R Ashwin picked off a few runs before the interval.
Ashwin’s 30 gave him a more respectable batting contribution for the match than many of the rest, but he failed to ride Siddle’s bouncer, which skimmed off the wicket to produce a skier and a simple catch for Cowan moving around from short leg. Pattinson returned to the attack and became embroiled in a brief sledging match with Zaheer, the bowler striking a boundary over point and a steepling six over long on before squeezing another catch to Cowan under the helmet.
Dhoni’s will to frustrate Australia ebbed away, and an unbecoming heave at Pattinson resulted in a drag onto the stumps. Ishant and Umesh Yadav resisted briefly, but Clarke called Nathan Lyon into the attack and Yadav obliged by swinging into the deep. David Warner held a smart catch to begin rich and deserved celebrations.

I think win and lode is the part of the game on cheer up and wait India will perform well in the next match you will see i can bet
Mr.Sunny its just the game and its just the start of the series , U dont get dejected as india will definitely bounce back as it had done in the past and plz stop cribbing like this which does not suits for the World Champions..
I am an indian, and deeply hurt and embarassed, what right did I have to dream, we are nothing short than a one stroke champion in 20/20 and known as flat track bullies…..even my 2 month old nephew can play in his back yard..it really hurts when we constantly fail overseas…..why can we not play the short ball???
it is tht we are inherently weak and scared, or is it something else, all i know is tht at the momment i want to cry for a nation…..you baskets…you let us down again…..we need to protest….BHOK HARTAL……IPL…HAMARE CRICKETERS HUMMEH VAPAS DO….SHILPA KUTTHI KI BATCHI…U KNOW NOTHING ABT CRICKET….STICK TO BIG BROTHER…..NAAAAAAHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN…….KRODH…..KRODH….ASHAMBHAV……KRAAAAAAANTIIIIIII…….KRANTI…DESH KE KHATIR HUM DOWN UNDER SAB KAYENGE………

my heart is hurting….bharat maa………
its better Team India focus n concentrate on winning rather than going back of milestones, they must have more sad that Tendulkar unable to complete his milestone rather than losing.
@sunny .. HAHAHA well said!! a eunuch gang-raped..that’s pretty much it!!
It not that bad. Winning and losing is part of the game. What is horrific is that we are making the same mistake again and again. In england, we had injury issues but still our bowler tried their best. It was our batsmen who let us down there.
Even today, they have been found wanting on fast pitch with bowl pitched up. This shows a serious chink in our batsmen ability to negotiate good fast bowlers on fast pitches in the likes of Anderson, Broad, Siddle and now Pattison.
Plz.. remember the english side which toured india for ODIs didn’t have Anderson and Broad and we played them on slow pitches which makes our batsmen look like GOD. Now when they have to face good fast bowlers on good bouncy pitches they look mediocre. Its a serious issue and needs to be addressed. Unless the australia’s quicks get injured or loose their mind we are looking for a repeat of English tour.
ur crab team is only good on their own ground but if they out and play they just cant face the fast bowler
sooo as your team……ur tam cannot win here in india….. in front of our spinners aussies dance…..tats the story….
….india wont get wicket like india except Sri lanka, thats why they never cant handle true fast bowler on sporting wicket!! They never get a single series win against Australia, SA, past Windis!! Australia/SA targets to win everywhere, not only India. Thats why they used to make sporting wickets, not craps like Indian wicket!! Still, they give fighting results in India, bcuz, sporting wickets give techniques to play everywhere. After Rahul, Sachin or VVS retirement, India should play 20:20, home One dayers & Danguli instead of Test Cricket. Else, more 4-0, 3-0 will come. Flat wicket giants like Gambhir, Kohli or even Sehwag will go nowhere in near future!! Today’s medium graded bowlers also caught Viru’s technical faults of hand-eye coordination & he is also getting older. Soon, his reflex will be deemed bcuz of age….
india team is home lion they can,t win series in out of country tours great sham on team india
team india become number 1 for 18 months how about team you support when they are going to be number1.
every team is lion wen they are home……when australia came here they were dancing in front of our spinners…..then nobody said that shame on australia….wats the use of tat batting line up who cannot play spin bowling…..atleast we can say tat we can face each and every bowler in the world….itz just tat aussies bowled excellent dliveries to get rid of indian batsmen….And i m sure india is goin to come hard nxt game……and then i will comment here…
Go to hell man ,
Atleast they deliever it once .I mean lossing everytime dont make any sence.
They are good for nothing and everyone is acting in ground like watching a shiteee B.woody stoody and crab movee .
bye
shut up.
Its just first game.I believe india is much better side then aussies and they’ll definitely bounce back. However,i seriously think its time for india to inject new blood into the team like of aswin, kohli and wasim jaffar especially as he is blazing in this season at home.
u think indian sa re the best shame oin india for 80 runs 6 wickets really shame on them
austrailians are great they are very great in test macthes really for bowling james pattinson he is really great bowler i like very much and siddle is good bowler too for 3 wickets and in batting i like mike hussey he is really good and ponting too
aussie cannot the 2nd test match and will sachin will make tone i m telling really diffitely will the series and no one cannot beat india in series and india can win teh series from varun yadav
Every team is good in their own backyard. So whats a big deal. When any touring team comes to india they get battered.I am proud that our players are still giving their best even at the age of 38.Dont forget our players are under more pressure then any other player in the world.Every indian wants sachin to score a 100 whenever he goes out to bat but they don’t understand that he is also human. When england came to india they got battered. Remember india is the only side who beat the best aussie side where as rest of the world got battered in their own backyard.I hope sachin scores his 100th hundred in next match and shut the whole world up. India stayed on number one spot for 18 months lets see how long england stays on number one. We can beat aussie team its just need good planning and execution. good luck india for next match.
I totally agree with ken. We will come back when we play in sydney as it is sachins favourite ground. Cricket is not a one man game so hopefully team india come together to play good cricket, all players will contribute and then we will batter the aussies in their backyard. Don’t forget sachin is the only player in the world who has scored more runs and hundreds than any other player in the world against aussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on india show the world how good we are!!!!! ALL THE BEST TO INDIA!
hmm varun u think india can win if u think that than u r like those indians like loser
Indian r really home lions its true.only pakistan can play well in abroad even in england, australia they are real champions.
you are talking total nonsense . when did pakistan beat england in england they can only fix matches and nothing else. how about afridi bitting the ball when tour pakistan to australia.
No team has played well against the aussies in their backyard except for West Indies once England and South Africa occassionally and Pakistan in the Late seventies and early eighties rest have always been battered Pakistan last won a match in Australia in 1995 and until the leeds match were battered by the aussies left right and center, people should learn to call a spade a spade.
well done mickkal. hasy.ricky&all players we hope white wash for india. indian players can god played from india but cant played any athor country
Well these are the captains who fared well in Australia, say since 1975 in test matches
Clive Lloyd — West Indies — later was it Viv or Ritchie in 80′s and early 90′s
Mushtaq Mohammad — 77 and 79 or 80 (yet he managed to draw against the fearsome lillee and Thompson in these two test match series in Australia, Miandad lost 2-1 in 84)
Mike Gatting — round or about 1986
Was it Ganguly — 2004 (1-1) in Australia minus Mcgrath and Warne for most part of the series.
More recently — South Africa, England recently they fared well cuz australia was building a new team, no greats like the Chappel brothers, Thompson, Lillee, McGrath, Gillespie, Gilchrist, Hayden and so on.
Fairly speaking the greatest contest was in the 70′s and early eighties when the aussies had greg chappel and co Pakistan drew those two series, in the early 70′s West Indies got hammered but came back strongly later.
As a former opening batsman for Pakistan Universities, I am of this opinion that flat pitches in India annd T20 Cricket is undoing Indi. The best advise I would give to Indian batsmen is to play fast bowlers as close to their bodies as poosible. Tendulkar need to quit driving on the up. These are the shots one plays after 150 runs not 35 runs.
It took australia 35 years to beat in india. last series they won was in 1969 and then they beat india in 2006. so australia are also lion at home but when they come to india they struggle to beat india. why people around the world keep quite then. Basically any team who plays at home are always favourite to win. So even if india lose its not a big deal. i am a true supporter of cricket and i personally believe only the great west indian side of 1970s was the best team because that beat every team home and away. they ruled world cricket for 16 years. remember they beat aussies side in their own backyard when kim huge was the captain of australia.
God…India’s just useless :( Everyone caring about S Tendulkar getting 500 centuries and not caring how the team plays from day to day…pathetic!! Can’t even take a Test match to the fifth day!! Shameful India :[
samin 1st of all u silly nitwit dumb fug learn english n thn comment otherwise shut d fug up n sit in palkistan ur country…
