Chennai are still fighting for a top four spot after a poor start to the tournament has cost them. Chennai have the almighty task of beating Delhi who have been the best team all tournament with their master class batsmen. Chennai will have to bowl very well but that seems to be their weakness at this stage of the tournament while Delhi will have to attack from the start.

Kolkata and the Mumbai Indians are both placed well in the top four but still it is so close for 3rd and 4th spot every game from now is crucial. Kolkata have a little bit of breathing space and won’t be feeling as much pressure while Mumbai have to win or are at risk of losing their 4th spot, they are both two power house teams and it should be a very exciting game.

Pune are basically playing for pride as it is very unlikely of them scraping through for the finals. Bangalore are just in the top four but will need a win and they will like that they have an easier task in playing Pune. It is T20 though so anything could happen. Pakistan’s middle order batsman Misbah Ul-Haq has stood down as Twenty20 captain for Pakistan. Zaka Ashraf, the PCB Chairman speaking at the same interview also announced that Mohammed Hafeez will fill in Misbah’s shoes and captain Pakistan in future T20 matches. It has been assumed that Misbah Ul-Haq will continue to captain the national side in Tests and the 50 over format.

Today, Australia have named their 50 overs squad for the Australian team’s tour of Ireland and England in June and July. The 15 man squad has a few surprises, the highly rated Pat Cummins, all-rounder Steve Smith and the left arm Mitchell Johnson have all been surprise picks in the ODI squad. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Johnson were the start of Australia’s injury hit players struck in South Africa last year and will be relieved to be given another chance.

The IPL teams are getting tense if they are in the middle section of the points table. Rajasthan and Chennai are in that area with the Royals slightly further ahead but a win is a must for both teams as it will put them close to 4th place which is required to qualify for finals, Chennai have really struggled this IPL and a problem has been their bowling.

Delhi lost out to Kolkata in their previous match where they dropped to 2nd place but a win against the Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad would rocket them back up to 1st place. Deccan are only playing for respect having only won 2 matches from 12 matches and they will have a lot of work to do to be successful in IPL 2013 next year.

Rajasthan came to life against Punjab and are still in decent knick to make the finals in IPL 2012.
